You know that iconic part in Love Actually where Hugh Grant stands up and makes that kick-ass speech to the American Prime Minister about how he fears it has become a ‘bad relationship’ between America and Great Britain …well that’s a little bit how I feel about me and exercise right now.
Growing up I used to go to gymnastics classes three times a week and I was probably at my peak of physical fitness around the age of 13. Ever since, it’s gone a bit down hill. I’ve dabbled with cheerleading, the gym and a bit of Yoga but nothing’s really stuck. I also attempted to get back into cheerleading through the society at university, but that quickly ended when I broke my back (Not the luckiest person in the world I know). So that brings us up to 2018, where I’ve not properly got into any exercise regime for well over a year now and frankly I need to do something about it. It’s not that I need or want to lose any weight, but I want to feel less sluggish, have more energy and get my general fitness back.
So, I’ve decided to give running a try. Out of my friendship group I’m the only one of us really who doesn’t regularly go running and the group chat is constantly filled with the girls talking about the latest 5k or 10k run that they’ve done. Then I’m there just chilling on the sofa being lazy. So I’m getting in on the action.
I was also given the opportunity to team up with Herbalife to try out their new Herbalife24 sports line, which sees sports personalities such as Cristiana Ronaldo and Nile Wilson head up the campaign. Now, when I think of Herbalife I tend to think back to a few years ago when people were using it as a weight loss technique. Whilst they still sell those products, the Herbalife24 range instead focusses on sports training rather than weight loss. The products in the range are there to help you prepare, train and recover, whether you want to take up gentle jogging, or training for a Marathon.
Down to the products…
1. Formula 1 Sport
Herbalife’s Forumla 1 Sport is a healthy nutritional shake, which can be taken once a day as a meal replacement alongside a healthy diet or twice a day for weightloss. It tastes absolutely amazing (it’s a tasty vanilla flavour) and supports the growth of lean muscle mass, so is great for having post run.
2. Hydrate Calorie- free electrolyte drink
Now this is probably one of my favourite products as I struggle to remind myself to drink enough water as it is. The Herbalife24 calorie-free electrolyte drink encourages fluid consumption and contains various healthy vitamins such as- Vitamin B1,B2, B12, Calcium and Magnesium which help contribute towards a normal energy-yielding metabolism. This has been a great way for me to get all the nutrients I need, whilst encouraging me to drink more water due to the tasty orange flavour!
3. CR7 Drive- Carbohydrate electrolyte drink
Now this is a product I haven’t used much so far, but will start to once I start to regularly run and want to start running longer distances, as it targets endurance performance. Similar to the above product, but this time including carbohydrate, CR7 Drive is an electrolyte drink which can be taken during exercise to aid you to perform for longer.
4. Protein Bars
Chocolate and peanut, what’s not to like? These protein bars taste bloomin gorgeous. They’re packed full of 10g protein and help the growth and maintenance of muscle mass, making them perfect for a snack after a run!
I was also sent a selection of sports bottles which are perfect for the protein powder and electrolyte drinks. Finally the team were kind enough to send me a bright pink running top to get me kitted out.
I just want to say a big thanks to Herbalife for sending me out all these great products. They’ve given me the push I needed to get up and get out running and I will continue to use them on my running/exercise journey!
I also want to know what types of exercise you all do? What exercise do you enjoy? How do you stay motivated? What products do you use etc?
Until next time,
