Looking for a hotel for an idyllic weekend break? I’ve got you covered….A couple of weeks ago I went to Chicheley Hall in Milton Keynes for a complimentary overnight stay and in this post I’m going to be talking all things location, food, room size and service, to give you a full overview of my stay!
When we arrived (I was offered a plus 1, so my boyfriend Jake came as well, lucky thing) we were greeted by a lovely receptionist and assigned our room for the stay, ‘Appleton’, which we were informed was one of the oldest rooms in the building, as Chicheley Hall is a Grade 1 listed early 18th century building. The room itself was absolutely stunning. It was large, spacious, and had so many beautiful period features. When I first entered I was confused as to where the bathroom and wardrobe were but the room has secret in- built panels which opened up to reveal the bathroom and three separate wardrobe/storage spaces! The Bathroom had been updated more recently and had a very fresh neutral modern feel to it. Also one of the best features of the room was it’s location- the views were exquisite and looked out over the grounds. Most importantly the bed was ridiculously comfortable and I slept like a baby!
This is one of the standout reasons to visit this hotel for me. The grounds.are.stunning. Although Jake and I might have potentially benefitted from going on a weekend of beautiful 25 degree sunshine, I think even in the pouring rain you would be blown away by how beautiful they are. Chicheley Hall is set in around 80 acres of land and is tucked away in an idyllic location, around a 10 minute drive off the M1 (So super easy to get to). The location and grounds make this the perfect wedding venue, as well as a relaxing getaway.
After we’d checked out the room and I bored Jake by taking multiple photos of the room, we headed outside to check out the grounds to *shock*… take more photos. The grounds were full of beautiful cherry blossom trees, greenery, hidden corners and lots of other ‘Instagrammable’ spots. We also sat out in the grounds and had a couple of drinks, making the most of the late afternoon sun!
I’m not going to beat around the bush here, but one of the main things I was excited for on our stay was the complimentary three course meal…and it didn’t disappoint. We dined in the hall that dates back to early 1700’s, which was a lovely setting. We could even hear peacocks out in the grounds!
Although I did attempt to take some photos, my camera was playing up by this point and with other guests giving me very odd looks I decided to just sit back and enjoy the food instead! I had a mozzarella salad, a chicken main course, and a panna cotta for desert and would definitely recommend each course I had.
We also received a complimentary breakfast in the morning which had everything you could want for a breakfast- continental? full English? check! I opted for some fruit and a full English which was lovely.
I thought I’d also just talk a little about the service from the staff members. I couldn’t really fault it- they were friendly and attentive, but not over the top or ‘hassly’. I’m confident that if you were planning a special stay or wedding that they would be more than accommodating and provide quality service to make your stay special!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, so a big thank you to the Chicheley Hall team for accommodating Jake and I. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. Would I go back?-100% yes!
and that’s it! I hope you enjoyed the post and make sure to check out Chicheley Hall if you’re planning a relaxing weekend getaway…
Until next time,
